The ‘Island Explorer’ is a Kingfisher 50, with a capacity of 72 passengers. The vessel is owned by Kenmare man Mark Lynch and Fionan Murphy of FM Marine on Valentia Island. The boat is currently being refurbished at their Boatyard on Valentia Island in South Kerry.
They will provide a 90 minutes cruises on Kenmare Bay, with a live commentary of the history, geography, and wildlife of the area. Their website http://www.kenmarebaycruises.com will be launching in a couple of weeks and they will be doing some giveaways of pairs of tickets and family tickets.

An article in the December 2019 edition of the Kenmare News Magazine reported that following discussions in Washington DC with the United States Secretary of the Interior and his Chief of Staff,  Sentor Mark Daly is delighted that a proposal is well on the way to twinning both the Kenmare Peninsula Park and Killarney National Park with the US National Parks Service.

Ellis Island is proposed to be an appropriate twin for Kenmare Peninsula Park. Yellowstone National Park is proposed to be twinned with Killarney National Park.
