Fair Day in Kenmare 15th August

The 15th August is always a popular fair day in Kenmare, Co. Kerry. It is the one day in the year when farmers and animal owners can bring their cattle, horses, chickens, sheep and trade them in the streets. There are multiple stall holders selling their wears and the whole town is full of colour and festive cheers. Here is a collection of some of the photos we took on the August 15th 2011.

Kenmare Farmers Market

Kenmare Farmers Market takes place every Wednesday in the Square. Local speciality food, craft, plants and produce makers setup stalls early to sell their tempting wares. It is a popular day for self catering holiday makers staying in Kenmare to stock up on and sample local quality food. You will also find unique gifts to take home to family and friends.

The Lost Sheep Half Iron Triathlon Kenmare 2011

Lost Sheep Half Iron Triathlon Kenmare 2011 is the toughest middle distance races on the triathlon circuit. The event starts on 17th September with a 1900m swim in the scenic Kenmare Bay followed by an 83km cycle which takes competitors over two category one climbs on the Healy and Caha passes and finishes after an undulating 21km run mostly on quiet country roads close to the picturesque town of Kenmare.

Kilgarvan Annual Show

This year the 27th Kilgarvan Annual Show takes place on Sunday 31st of July 2011. The popular event attracts visitors from all over the country. Horses, Ponies, Donkeys, Cobs, Sheep, Cattle, Goats, Poultry, Dogs, Children’s Pets, Horticulture, Crafts and Photographs.

While on holiday many of us like to read our emails and keep in touch with friends.

You’ll be glad to read that WiFi is available in most Restaurants and Bars in Kenmare town.

When staying at Millfield, you can visit the Kenmare Bay Hotel & Resort, a short walk from your holiday home, and avail of the hotel’s WiFi Zone offering free WiFi Internet Access in public areas. Other free WiFi locations within easy walking distance of Millield include Rose Garden, where you can enjoy a coffee while you surf or Brooklane hotel if you want to take a night off from cooking an evening meal.
